about
In early March 2020, we recorded some demos for our next official release. The plan was to demo, play two shows we had on the books for this Spring, and then record the real record. Then a week after recording, COVID-19 hit Chicago hard, and the stay-at-home order was implemented. Our shows were canceled, and we had the demo tracks done but no vocals. Since we still weren't sure what was going to happen, Meg did vocals remotely through a regular ol' computer mic. Out of the demos we finished, this one, "Fish In My Head", actually came out pretty well all things considered. Bart did some mixing magic to kick it up a notch, and voilà! Enjoy!
lyrics
I just came here to say that I'm sorry for blaming everything that went wrong on you
I've had this fish in my head ever since I was seven I really don't know what to do
She's swimming, still swimming, I know
I can feel her fins against this glass bowl
So I drove to the water thinking of life without her and I suddenly felt so much lighter
A 3-hearted being has more trouble seeing there really is no love at all
I caught you, I'll release you, And FIN
Oh! What life will be without your burden
If I break this glass prison, now anything is possible
You can swim to Michigan, if it strikes you so
And I can chart these waters oh anywhere, I want at all
Oh, anywhere I want at all
But suddenly something feels different
But suddenly something feels distant
Suddenly something feels missing

The Shivas deliver a set of righteous three-chord wonders with a mean streak that will always be to the tastes of a certain doomy subset of ‘60s rock fans. Bandcamp Album of the Day Oct 29, 2019
